چکیده

This paper describes the parallel finite element analysis of large scale problem for a nonsteady heat conductive problem using domain decomposition method. In order to solve the issue of scalability of a domain decomposition method, the developed system employs the balancing domain decomposition method and hierarchical data management technique among the parallel processors. The present system is successfully applied to the FEM analysis of over two million degrees of freedom on a massively parallel computer, SR8000.

Speeding up the Stress Analysis of Hollow Circular FGM Cylinders by Parallel Finite Element Method

In this article, a parallel computer program is implemented, based on Finite Element Method, to speed up the analysis of hollow circular cylinders, made from Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). FGMs are inhomogeneous materials, which their composition gradually varies over volume. In parallel processing, an algorithm is first divided to independent tasks, which may use individual or shared da...

Optimal Shape Design for Heat Conduction Using Smoothed Fixed Grid Finite Element Method and Modified Firefly Algorithm

The present study is concerned with optimal shape determination of inhomogeneous and temperature dependent domains under steady state heat conduction. Such situations are important in many thermal design problems, especially in shape design of electronic components and chips. In the present paper, we formulate the shape optimization problem based on volume minimization of heat conductive materi...

Numerical Analysis of Transient Heat Transfer in Radial Porous Moving Fin with Temperature Dependent Thermal Properties

In this article, a time dependent partial differential equation is used to model the nonlinear boundary value problem describing heat transfer through a radial porous moving fin with rectangular profile. The study is performed by applying a numerical solver in MATLAB (pdepe), which is a centered finite difference scheme. The thermal conductivity and fin surface emissivity are linearly ...

Flow and Heat Transfer Analysis of the Sodium Alginate Conveying Copper Nanoparticles between Two Parallel Plates

In this study, the steady incompressible flow of a non-Newtonian sodium alginate (SA) fluid conveying copper nanoparticles (Cu) which flow within two vertical parallel plates is investigated by using the homotopy perturbation analytical scheme to solve the coupled nonlinear ordinary equations arising from the mechanics of the fluid. The developed analytical solutions are used to investigate the...

Dynamics Analysis of the Steady and Transient States of a Nonlinear Piezoelectric Beam by a Finite Element Method

This paper presents a finite element formulation for the dynamics analysis of the steady and transient states of a nonlinear piezoelectric beam. A piezoelectric beam with damping is studied under harmonic excitation. A numerical method is used for this analysis. In the paper, the central difference formula of four order is used and compared with the central difference formula of two order in th...
